About Samrajni

What is Samrajni?
Samrajni is a contemporary luxury house rooted in the textile heritage of Assam. We work with natural, handwoven silks and traditional craftsmanship to create refined clothing for women and men, including sarees, contemporary silhouettes, occasionwear and bespoke creations.
What kind of silk does Samrajni use?
Samrajni works with four natural silk traditions: Muga, Eri, Mulberry (Paat) and Tussar. Each has its own texture, character, appearance and heritage.
Do you offer garments for both women and men?
Yes. Samrajni creates contemporary and occasion-led pieces for both women and men, rooted in natural silk and Assamese textile heritage. The collections include refined silhouettes, co-ordinated sets, sarees, shirts, kurtas, structured pieces and elevated occasionwear.
Where are Samrajni's textiles and garments made?
Samrajni's textile story is rooted in Assam, with its artisan collaboration centred around Sualkuchi. The brand works with master artisans whose handloom knowledge and craftsmanship form an essential part of the Samrajni story.

Silk & Craftsmanship

Are your garments made from 100% natural silk?

Samrajni is committed to natural, handwoven silk and does not use polyester or synthetic mixing in its handloom silk philosophy. The primary fabric used for each garment will always be clearly mentioned on the individual product page.

For garments that require lining, we use 100% linen where applicable. For certain structured garments, crepe or another suitable lining fabric may be used depending on the design and construction requirements. The exact composition will always be listed with the product.

Are Samrajni pieces handmade?

Yes. Each Samrajni creation is thoughtfully handcrafted using traditional silk craftsmanship wherever applicable. Natural variations in weave, texture, colour and detailing are a characteristic of authentic handcrafted textiles.

Garment construction and stitching are machine-stitched where required for precision and structure. Embellishments may include machine embroidery, traditional Ari work, Zardozi work or other artisanal methods, as identified on each product page.

What is Eri silk, and why is Samrajni's Eri silk special?

Eri silk is known for its naturally soft, matte and slightly textured character. It is spun rather than reeled like many other silks and is valued for its comfort and distinctive handwoven appearance.

At Samrajni, our Eri silk materials are naturally dyed. Colour derived from natural sources allows the fabric to retain an organic, earthy character that complements Eri's natural texture.

What makes Muga, Eri, Mulberry and Tussar different?

Muga is known for its golden lustre and strength. Eri has a soft, matte and textured character. Mulberry (Paat) is known for its clean, pearly sheen and refined fall. Tussar has an earthy, organic texture with natural slubs and variations.

Why may my garment look slightly different from the image?
Handwoven textiles are naturally individual. Minor variations in weave, texture, colour and zari detailing can occur because each piece is handcrafted. These are part of the textile's character and authenticity rather than flaws. Appearance may also vary slightly with lighting, photography and the natural characteristics of silk.
Why are there natural irregularities in some handwoven fabrics?
Handloom is made by human hands, not industrial machines. Small variations in weave, texture, yarn, zari and pattern can therefore occur. These details are part of the individuality and authenticity of a handcrafted textile and make every piece uniquely its own.

Orders & Availability

Are Samrajni pieces made-to-order?

Many Samrajni pieces are made-to-order and crafted with attention to fabric, detailing, finishing and fit. Selected pieces are also available as ready-to-ship.

Each product page identifies its availability. Ready-to-ship pieces target fulfilment within 7 business days, subject to shipping. Made-to-order pieces display their production timeline separately.

How long does it take to receive a made-to-order piece?
Production time depends on the garment, fabric, craftsmanship and customization involved. The approximate production timeline is 3–5 weeks, with the expected timeline shown on the individual product page. This does not apply to pieces marked Ready to Ship.
